Why letterpress?

Letterpress is one of the earliest forms of printing that originated in the 1400’s. The technique uses relief plates to create deep impressions onto paper. When inked plates meet the plushy surface of paper, the artwork is embedded into the paper and forms a three-dimensional appearance and texture. The distinctiveness of this “pillowing” effect brings an exquisite beauty to every printed piece and is unmatched by any other method of printing. Letterpress printing is time consuming and requires the utmost attention to detail and craftsmanship which is why its popularity was on the decline when offset printing was later introduced. In recent years, letterpress has been revived as an art form and has its place in the world of fine invitations, stationery, greeting cards, business cards and all things sumptuous.
